I noticed on facebook and twitter both the daily listing of thanks. I read each post and feel grateful myself fo so much.
Today, I feel thankful for health and mobility. I followed a woman into a building this morning who benefitted from neither. I was running late, as usual. I dashed through the automatic door half running. When I found the door I needed, I saw her, just ahead of me, filling the doorway. First I impatiently
waited, shifting my weight. Then I calmed and watched. She looked very thin. She was older than I, maybe in her 50’s or 60’s but she held a cane in one hand and a small suitcase in the other. Step, shuffle, slide, she took one step, dragged her other leg and then pushed the suitcase forward. I considered my appointment. I watched her next step, shuffle, slide. I’m thankful to feel healthy and to be so lucky that running five minutes late seems like a catastrophe. What are you thankful for?
